We're using drones to track progress of a construction site in Preston.
This was the site in mid october.
Despite the poor weather, @smwconstruction and McNeela Construction are making good progress!
Drones are being employed on site for a variety of tasks:
It’s even becoming more common to see drones being used on construction sites in a variety of ways.
Builders use drones to collect real-time data about projects and understand what’s happening on site. Aerial insights improve progress tracking and help catch problems early — before they become costly or add weeks to a project’s timeline.
By spending less than an hour each week mapping a job site, contractors gain access to an unprecedented amount of knowledge about nearly every aspect of their project.
BY SPENDING LESS THAN AN HOUR EACH WEEK MAPPING A JOB SITE, CONTRACTORS GAIN ACCESS TO AN UNPRECEDENTED AMOUNT OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT NEARLY EVERY ASPECT OF THEIR PROJECT.
Drones have helped revolutionise the planning stages of construction, along with land surveying and data capturing: these are just a few of the uses for drones in construction.
Drones can get up-to-date images as often as you like. Every day if you need them
That means you can get a real feel for how the build is progressing. Drones allow builders the chance to develop better plans, track progress and monitor any issues with the construction by providing an unrivalled wide-view of a site at a fraction of the cost.
Most construction sites need regular checks and inspections – but this can be dangerous work. Now drones can carry out real-time inspections of high risk areas so you don’t have to send people to them. This helps improve health and safety on a site, which should be a construction firms’ biggest priority.
Drone use in the construction industry has seen massive growth in recent years, and this looks set to continue. With technology improving for drones every year, they look set to help construction even more over the next decade.
... DRONES INCREASE SAFETY, SAVE TIME AND RESOURCES, FAST-TRACK SURVEYING, AND DELIVER ACCURATE MEASUREMENTS.
Progress on site continues and we will be mapping the site weekly. As the project nears completion, a project summary video can be created showing a timelapse of construction over the year!
